Photography Submissions

August 19th, 2009 No comments

As a new photographer I know it can be hard to find places to get your work out there for the world to see so I am going to start compiling a list of great places you can submit your photos for other people to see.  The internet offers a vast wealth of exposure for artist and photographers that wasn’t available in the past.

1. Deviant Art

Deviant Art is a great site due to the high amount of users and social networking quality that allows you get awesome feedback and exposure for your work regardless of the medium, Traditional art, Digital art, photography, poetry, crafts, and much more.  It also has some excellent resources such as plug-ins, stock images, and much more. I have been a member of Deviant art for a little over a year now and my photos have received over 40k views.

2. SutterStock

Shutterstock is a great site to submit your stock photos on a paid per download method.  Every photo that you submit and have downloaded you receive 25 cents, or if you get a purchaser request an enhanced license you receive 28$ per download.  This site is great as a resource and a money making tool.  If you would rather download stock images you can go here to sign up for a downloaders account.

3.  Panoramio

Panoramio is a great because it allows you to map your photos by geographic location as well as offering monthly contest for users.  Once you upload your photo you can map the location and your photo may even be included on Google Earth if it is selected.

My shift had just ended and I was quite ready to head home for the evening but the clouds were so dramatic I couldn’t resist taking a brief walk around the town of Charleston to see what I could spot.  After strolling around for a while I finally came across this view from under Interstate 64/77 and at that point I knew I had found the place I had been looking for.  A raised four lane highway nearly 50 feet in the air is quite a sight when you are standing underneath it, though while driving on top it would never seem to be this far off the ground.
